Sidelane privacy policy

Last updated October 5, 2026.

We don't collect or reuse your shopping. That is the purpose of Sidelane. On a product page it finds the same item at other stores and tells you if a watched price drops. What you shop for stays on this computer. It is not sold or used for ads. We are not paid if you click a store, and no store pays us, so results are ranked only by price and how well they match.

What we collect

Sidelane does not collect a profile of what you shop for. There is no Sidelane account. The notes below are what stays on this computer, and what a public search page receives so a price can be compared.

Sidelane reads information already on the product page you opened: title, price, model or UPC if shown, rating, and any discount code printed on that page. A small model packaged in the extension may interpret that text on this computer. Nothing from the page is sent to a Sidelane server or to a model API.

To find other listings, Sidelane requests public search pages on Google, Amazon, Walmart, and Bing Shopping. Those requests use HTTPS. The first attempt is a cookie-less fetch. If a site blocks that, Sidelane may open a background tab to load the same public search page in your browser. That tab can use your existing store session. Sidelane does not read your email, cart, payment methods, or account settings. It only reads listing titles, prices, and store names from the search results.

If you ask Sidelane to watch a price, it stores that product title, URL, price history, and your watch choice in chrome.storage.local on this computer.

What we do not collect

How we use it

Page and search data are used only to show other-store prices, optional discount codes that are already published, and a price-drop notice you turned on. They are not reused for advertising, resale, or any other product.

What we share

Sidelane does not send product or watch data to a Sidelane backend. Search sites you already use (Google, Amazon, Walmart, Bing) receive an ordinary HTTPS request for a public search page. We do not sell or transfer personal data except to comply with law, to investigate abuse, or as part of a sale of the extension.

Subscription and refunds

Comparing the page you are on is free. Watching more than 3 prices is a subscription sold by Keytech Group LLC, not by Google. The price is $29 a year or $4 a month, charged by Stripe.

Stripe collects the email and card. Sidelane does not see the card. This computer sends a random id, created here, to Sidelane's billing check. Stripe is asked whether that id has a paid subscription, and the answer is only yes or no. Product titles, prices, and the watch list are not included. The email stays in Stripe, which is how the seller knows who paid.

Cancel anytime from Sidelane Settings, Manage billing. Cancellation stops future charges. The period already paid runs to its end. Email the address on the Chrome Web Store listing within 14 days of a charge to ask for that charge to be refunded.

Limited Use

Sidelane's use of information received from Chrome APIs and from pages you visit complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use that information only to provide or improve the user-facing price-comparison features described here. We do not use it for advertising. We do not allow humans to read your product or watch data except with your consent for support, for security, to comply with law, or as aggregated internal metrics.

Permissions

The card only appears on selected store websites, and only on a product, cart, or checkout page.

Retention and deletion

Saved prices stay on this computer until you remove the item, clear site data for the extension, or uninstall Sidelane. Uninstalling deletes the local store.

Watch notices

When a watched price drops, Sidelane shows a Chrome notice on this computer. The toolbar icon shows how many of those drops you have not opened. Opening the notice, or the item from the Sidelane menu, clears that count.

Consent

The first time Sidelane opens on a product page, it explains this collection and waits for you to choose Continue before it reads the page or searches other stores.
